Pilgrimage Applications Now Open

Join thousands of young Catholics from around the world for an unforgettable pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2027.

World Youth Day is more than an event. It is a pilgrimage of faith, friendship, adventure, and encounter with Christ. Every few years, young people from every corner of the globe gather with the Holy Father to celebrate their faith, share their stories, and discover what God is calling them to in their lives.

In 2027, young adults from the Christchurch and Dunedin Dioceses will have the opportunity to make this journey together.

The Pilgrimage

Our pilgrimage will be approximately 18 days in length and will include time in Vietnam before joining pilgrims from around the world for the official World Youth Day celebrations.

Along the way, pilgrims will experience:

• Deepening their faith through prayer, worship, and pilgrimage
• Exploring new cultures and places
• Building lifelong friendships with fellow young Catholics
• Participating in the global celebration of World Youth Day
• Encountering the universal Church in a powerful and inspiring way

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to young adults who will be 18–35 years old as at 1 April 2027.

Applications from those over 35 may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately, participants must be at least 18 years old by 1 April 2027, and exceptions cannot be made for younger applicants.

Cost

The expected cost of the pilgrimage is approximately NZD $5,000–$7,000, depending on final travel arrangements.

Each application includes a $250 (+ fees) deposit that will be refunded if you’re unable to join us.

Info nights

A series of information nights will be held throughout mid 2026. These will be identical so you only need to go to one. Further dates will be announced in due course.
