A Young Adult is defined as someone aged between 18 and 39. Young Adult (YA) ministry is relatively new in the Catholic Church and especially over the past few years there has been a growing awareness of Young Adults as a distinct group of people in the Catholic Church.
Very often in the Church and in the life of a parish, Young Adults can feel a bit isolated and alone; many comment that there is not much for them for them. We here at the CYT are attempting to change this.
The Mission of our team (and ministry to Young Adults) is simply the Mission of the Church which is the sharing of the Gospel; of Jesus Christ to Young Adults. Check out the page on our website that translates this mission into goals.
We seek to do this in a number of different ways. We coordinate and facilitate many and varied Diocesan based programmes just for Young Adults. We aim to support and resource parishes and other organizations that seek to have or already have a Young Adult ministry as well as helping those directly involved in working with Young Adults.
We also seek to be a hub of information and resources that helps inform Young Adults of upcoming events, connect them with like minded others and with the Church, helps them grow in their faith life, supports them in their life journey, answers questions, and much more.
So if you are a Young Adult and you want to meet some like-minded people, learn about and grow in your faith and knowledge of Christ, are looking for a safe place to ask questions and explore important issues, then this is the place for you.
